What is THC?
Delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main substance in cannabis that makes people feel high. It’s the molecule that gives you the “high” feeling. Most of the time, people smoke or vaporize cannabis to get the compound. But you can also eat or drink things with it in them or put it on your skin.
The natural chemical is part of a group of chemicals called cannabinoids. The cannabis plant can make more than 113 cannabinoids. The plant can’t live without strong chemicals. They help the plant fight off parasites, bacteria, viruses, and other natural enemies. They may also shield the plant from the sun’s rays.
Only THC, though, makes such deep and noticeable changes in the way humans think.
Because of this, cannabis plants that make THC are subject to stricter rules than plants that don’t.
Hemp, on the other hand, is made from cannabis plants that make less than 0.3%. Because of how the law defines it, only marijuana plants can make a lot of THC.
